Everyone knows about The Legend of Holika and Prahlad

Once upon a time there was a king named Hiranyakashyap who conquered the whole earth. He was very self-centered that he ordered everyone in his empire to pray only him. But he was annoyed and disappointed when his own son Prahlad refused to worship him and became a devotee of Lord Vishnu.

His father Hiranyakashyap was so frightened and angry that he tried to kill his son Prahlad but every time he was saved by lord Vishnu. When his all tries go waste, then he requested his sister Holika to enter a flaming fire with Prahlad in her lap. Holika has a blessing that she could enter the fire unharmed.

Holika did the same as said by his brother, she took Pralad on his lap and enter the flaming fire, but holika forget that her blessing only works when she enters the fire alone. Prahlad kept chanting the name of lord vishnu and came out of fire unharmed because he was blessed by lord Vishnu for his devotion.

Do You Know why do we celebrate holi with colours?

Lord Krishna was jealous of Radha’s complexion and he always complained his mother Yashoda about discrimination of the nature, because he himself was dark. One day again he asks his mother and she replied that “color the face of Radha with color of his choice. Naughty Krishna liked the idea and execute it.

Later, this festival got famous and because one of the biggest cultural and traditional festival of India.

Today, Holi is also known as the festival of colors, people of all the culture and religion celebrate Holi with joy and happiness. Holi is also a sign of togetherness and brotherhood. People play holi with colors and water with holi songs or remix songs.

On this year 2017 Holi will be celebrated on Monday, march 12 and will continue Tuesday 13 march.
