Nowadays many people are becoming a vegetarian. There has been a rapid increase in the population of vegetarians across the globe. According to a survey by UN FAQ in 2007, India has more vegetarians than the rest of the world put together. Now the question is why are people drawn to vegetarian.

There have been thousands of scientific researched conducted across the globe just to determine the benefits of Vegetarian food on our health. Further, researchers also found that eating vegetarian diet helps a person to live longer and healthier life. And the majority of our calories come from the vegetarian diet which includes fruits, grains, and vegetables. A vegetarian has a less amount of risk of diseases such as Blood Pressure, diabetes, obesity and many types of Cancers such as lung, stomach, etc.

Making a simple change in your diet can add few more years in your life. It has been proved by the Researches that people who eat meat have a short life span compared to the vegetarians. Meat also kills your energy and weak your immune system. On the other, most of the farm animals are raised in a miserable condition which is unhygienic for people. Such conditions include a small overcrowded cage, misuse of antibiotics and rude handling by the workers.

Makes Bone Strong

Lack of Calcium in our body makes our bones weak. Many nutritionist advice to intake a good amount of calcium. The only source of calcium is by food. Food also provides the other useful nutrients such as magnesium, Vitamin D which are necessary for our body to use calcium.  Major items that provide good amount of calcium are Curd, Milk, cheese, soymilk, tofu, dry beans, etc.

Vegetarian food is not high in Arachidonic acid. Which is beneficial because Arachidonic acid which is high in Meat create mood disturbance. Researchers have investigated that restricting nonvegetarian food and consuming vegetarian food help in improving mood.

Reduces Risk of Diabetes.

Vegetarian food is very beneficial to reduce the risk of diabetes. Plant-based food helps in lowering blood sugar by slowing the process of taking up of sugar in the body. Lack of insulin can cause diabetes. High in fat food as well as meat can prevent the process of insulin in our body, whereas low in fat and plant food can help in insulin sensitivity.

According to a study cutting out meat from your meal can help you save up to 10,000. Buying meat isn’t cheap especially when you choose to purchase organic and antibiotic free. That’s why veggies can help you save money especially when your pocket is tight.

Vegetarians usually have Low Cholesterol

After a long study on vegetarian diet researchers of Korea concluded that vegetarians have low cholesterol compared to the non-vegetarians. So, if you remove the animal fat from your plate you will become healthier than you are now.

There are so many health and economic benefits of being a vegetarian. Further, if you plan your meal carefully you can get a plenty amount of vitamin and minerals from vegetarian food such as proteins, calcium, zinc, magnesium, etc.
